I was born in Stoke-On-Trent in the Midlands, but now live in Wiltshire with my Husband, Son and two dogs.
I have always loved drawing, and started as a young girl. I could often be found out in the garden with a sketch pad and pencil drawing one of our sleeping cats.
I went to college in Stafford, Staffordshire where I completed a foundation course in Art and Design.
In the last twenty years I have been doing pet portraits in gouache watercolour for commissions. I always put a lot of fine detail in these portraits, starting with the eyes and painting all the individual hairs to build up the appearance of fur.
I have recently bought a set of pastels, I find they give a very realistic finish.
I also enjoy painting wildlife subjects, examples of which can be seen below.
I have been a finalist in the Roy Chafin "Paint a Wildlife Subject" competition for four years in a row.
Since the birth of my son Callum in 2001, I have found a love of doing child portraits in coloured pencil. I find this medium allows me to capture the various skin tones and luminescence in a child's face.
